Catering at Kingham Hill School is provided by the leading caterer for independent schools - Holroyd Howe. The team has been led by Catering Manager, Anna Thatcher, and Head chef, Andy Day, for nearly four years. The catering crew consists of 14 people who share a passion for providing fantastic, freshly made, locally sourced, and nutritionally balanced meals for pupils, staff and visitors alike.

Pupil favourites include our freshly made bread and soups available daily, fantastic main courses and tempting hot and cold desserts all made using free range eggs, Red Tractor Assured locally sourced meat and local fruit and vegetables where seasonality allows. The chefs can often be found in the small but abundant pupil kitchen garden picking herbs, berries, rhubarb and beans for use in our meals.

Andy has established excellent working relationships with local suppliers of flour (milled less than five miles away), cheese, fresh produce and a local dairy to ensure we keep our food miles to a minimum.

All menu cycles are signed off by the Holroyd Howe Nutritionalist to ensure they are balanced to suit the needs of our pupils. We have regular pupil feedback through surveys and food committee and where appropriate this will be incorporated into future menu planning.

Our caterers are confident and efficient in dealing with special dietary requirements, allergies and intolerances and work closely with the parents of affected pupils to ensure suitable, nutritious and safe meals are provided.

The catering team work closely with the school to ensure food is an integral part of school life, special theme days to coincide with school events, live food demonstrations, supplier tasting days, charitable events and education. There is a weekly extra-curricular cookery club run by Anna Thatcher as well as nutritional information days delivered by Holroyd Howe's nutritionalist to the whole school. Each year a pre university catering day takes place to teach the Sixth Form about budgeting and cooking for themselves including practical cookery, shopping on a budget and a small cook book of ideas.

Food is a vital part of our school and as such we were very proud that our team were recently awarded a highly commended in the Outstanding Team Award at the Holroyd Howe people awards - coming in the top 3 of 99 nominations.
