Unique

The American Studies Program at Kingham Hill School is a unique program allowing US students the educational opportunity to study at a traditional British school while continuing to meet US educational requirements during their time abroad.

Personalized

American students attending Kingham Hill are fully integrated into the British educational system. A personalized academic plan based on a student’s year of entry and anticipated stay in the UK is developed for each American student.

Compatible

For students who will not remain at Kingham Hill to complete a full British GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) or A-Level programme, academic coursework is conducted to ensure that students will continue working at grade-level to transition successfully to an “American Curriculum” school. Additionally, American students participating in the American Studies Program are provided with class time during the academic day to pursue course work in US History, American Government or a variety of Advanced Placement (AP) courses under the supervision of certified US instructors.

Accredited

Kingham Hill is fully authorized to administer a variety of standardized US tests, including APs® and PSATs®. SATs are arranged at a nearby test centre. Participants in the American Studies program are provided with an ‘American Transcript’ upon leaving Kingham Hill. All coursework completed as part of the British National Curriculum is translated into school credits and course grades appropriate for calculating US GPAs. American students who do remain at Kingham Hill through 12th Grade (Year 13) will be provided with a traditional US Diploma. College counselling services are provided for students planning to enrol at US colleges and universities.

Kingham Hill School was accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) in May 2010. NEASC is the first and oldest accrediting agency in the U.S. and in the world.  We are the only British school in the UK to be honored in this way.  Our NEASC inspection report can be found on our Info/Downloads section.

Seamless

In short, the goal of the American Studies Program is to provide students with a seamless transition into and out of the British educational system, regardless of what school a student previously attended, or what academic endeavours lie ahead.

Partnership

The American Studies Program at Kingham Hill is the first educational program of this nature in the United Kingdom to be developed in conjunction with and supported by the US State Department.
