Charity involvement

Helen and Douglas House

We have informally adopted Helen and Douglas House as a charity for which pupils and staff members raise funds.  Over the years efforts have included craft sales, half-marathons, fashion shows, e-cards in lieu of traditional Christmas cards and lots more.  Find out more about this wonderful hospice: www.helenanddouglas.org.uk

Sixth Form Ukraine Charity Trip

In 2008 and 2009 members of our Sixth Form have raised money to help people in rural Ukraine. The purpose of the first trip was to establish two computer clubs for a church outreach project in the town of Berdichev and a neighbouring village.  Funds were raised to transport twenty desktop computers overland, whilst the Kingham Hill team flew courtesy of BA!  Other benefactors include the KHA, various friends of the Hill, parents and members of local church.  With the computers installed, the church is now able to offer an after-school computer club and a small community outreach programme.

In 2009 an expanded pupil team and two members of staff hosted a children's holiday club for a week.  The fifty children were between 8-14 years of age.  They were hugely enthusiastic, and threw themselves into the games, crafts, English lessons, paddling pool and water slide! They came from rural families, and as such would not be able to afford a summer holiday.  The Kingham Hill team worked hard, and enjoyed serving the children both in the village and at an orphanage.  It was a very special trip, and one where pupils came to understand what 'it is in giving that you receive' really means.
