External Examinations

All pupils are expected to attempt an external ESOL examination as well as sitting their mainstream curriculum examinations.  The goal is for every pupil to have had at least one opportunity to take an external ESOL examination before leaving Kingham Hill.  Naturally, much depends upon various factors such as level of English competency upon arrival at school, the rate of progress and the length of time pupils have in the school.

Exams Offered

The Cambridge ESOL main suite examinations - KET, PET, FCE and CAE

In addition, students on the Foundation Course may be offered a Cambridge BEC examination at Preliminary or Vantage level

EdExel IGCSE English as a Second Language is offered to students in Year 11

Cambridge IELTS is offered to those in Year 12 or 13 who are intending to apply for university
