Carol Anelay - Taught Religious Studies at a senior girls' school in Oxford, special area of interest being Ethics. Involved with the University Newcomers' Club as well as several groups at St. Ebbe's Church, including the Ministry Training Course in which our Kingham Pastoral Assistants participate. Married to Jonathan, who is the Director of Legal Services at Oxford University. Three children and nine young grandchildren, who keep us on our toes! Enjoys cooking, gardening and flower arranging. Rev Richard Cunningham - lives close by the school in an old mill that Kingham Hill owned and in which it once kept pigs and chickens! Studied at London University- trained and worked as a teacher, followed by a stint on the staff of St Helen’s Church, Bishopsgate. Trained for ordination in Oxford and after clergy roles locally and in Oxford works as the Director of UCCF: The Christian Unions. Married to Ruth, five kids - two girls and three boys. Brione Goodwin Hudson - Studied languages in Switzerland, dress designing at Katinka, followed by secretarial training. Started Christian life at St. Helen's Church, Bishopsgate, and member of the Stewards Trust. Currently enjoying working with Philip de Grey Warter in Fowey. Married to Peter, who was 26-years a school chaplain before working in Santiago, Chile, and then five years with the Evenlode Vale Benefice. We have three boys and nine grandchildren. Interests include Bible study, swimming, cooking for family and friends (I used to teach ‘Cooking for University’ to students at Repton), walking and bridge.
Col John Lewis - Studied Agriculture at Writtle College near his family home in Chelmsford. Began a career in Farm Management but changed course to join the Army in 1982. Commissioned into the Royal Corps of Transport and served overseas in Germany with a detachment to Australia. Studied Logistics Management followed by the Army Staff Course in 1991. Worked across the Middle East from a base in Cyprus, commanded a Support Battalion in the Balkans and was Force Support Commander in Iraq in 2005 during the first Iraqi elections. Recently Director Operations at the Defence Storage and Distribution Agency. Married to Jeannie with four children, interests revolve around family and outdoor pursuits as well as involvement in Church and Armed Forces Christian Organisations.
John Richardson - Born in Lancashire, the youngest of three in an Anglican clergyman’s family. Educated at Rossall and Cambridge, took a degree in Engineering and gained a PGCE before entering the teaching profession teaching mathematics first at Dean Close in Cheltenham and then at Eton. In 1992 became Head of Culford School in Bury St Edmunds before moving to take on the Headship of Cheltenham College in 2004. He formed an education consultancy in 2010. Married to Ruth and has three children: Matthew, Peter and Sarah. Interests include reading, sailing and mountaineering. All the family are members of St Matthew’s Church in Cheltenham.
Keith Targett - Eldest of four Kingham-educated brothers. Eight years as a naval officer specialising in submarines, including taking Polaris to sea. Subsequent business career has included time with IBM, Xerox and Racal Electronics Group. Currently owns / operates business establishing partnerships globally for a French client who leads the management / leadership training industry. Married to Ellie for 39 years, two adult sons, the elder of whom was educated at Kingham. Governor since 2000 and Vice President of the Kingham Hill Association. Horse owner, who is passionate about all things equestrian. Lives in rural Herefordshire with wife, two horses and two dogs.
Stephen Wookey - Born and brought up on a farm (organic since 1970) in Wiltshire, where parents and brother still live. After school and university studying Classics, spent a year in Liverpool, before studying theology at Oxford, prior to ordination. Curacies in Cockfosters, Paris and central London followed before moving out to Moreton-in-Marsh 15 years ago. Married to Gillian with three school-age children, hobbies include following all kinds of sport, playing golf, fishing and messing around with Apple Macs. |
Debbie Buggs - Grew up on a farm near Tonbridge in Kent and was awarded a degree in Computer Science with Management Science by the University of Kent at Canterbury. Chartered accountant and chairs the School’s Finance and General Purposes committee. Member of the congregation at St Helen’s Church, Bishopsgate. Works for an aviation insurer in the City of London and lives a twenty minute bicycle ride away in the East End.
Rev Johnny Juckes - Born and bred in the Cotswolds, vicar of St Andrew's Kirk Ella, just outside Hull, since 1998. First degree in Psychology at St Andrew's, followed a couple of years later by Theology at Cambridge. Curacy in Sevenoaks, followed by a couple of roles working for Dick Lucas, first at Proclamation Trust and then at St Helen's, Bishopsgate. Married to Diana, five children, two girls, a boy, a girl and a boy. Chairman of the Kingham Hill Trust. Woodturner whenever there's a spare moment.
David Orton - Attended school at Monkton Combe near Bath and then read engineering at Cambridge. Retired finance director of a company providing services to the building sector. Past treasurer of Holy Trinity Brompton Church. Married to Annette with five children, the last one just leaving school.
Mark Stanley-Smith - Born and brought up in Africa, but came back to boarding school in England. After Sandhurst, served with the Tenth Hussars in England, Germany, Aden, and the Persian Gulf. Qualified as a chartered surveyor and pursued a second career in estate management. Farms on the Somerset levels. Like his predecessor, Douglas Scott, he has a herd of pedigree South Devon cattle. Chairman of the Governors. Also chairman of a trust which administers an ancient almshouse charity, and an active volunteer with a national farming charity. Married to Felicity. Two children and four grandchildren.
Jeremy Thomas - Former partner in the international law firm, Ashurst. Fields of expertise are corporate law and legal knowledge management systems. Has also written extensively in the field of public international law. Studied law at Queen Mary College, University of London, and at Dalhousie Law School, Canada. Presently writing a book on church history. Married to Anita and they have three young children. Became a Christian at All Souls, Langham Place, now serves as a Deputy Warden.
Colin Townsend - Born in Oxford. Trained to teach at Liverpool. Taught Design and Technology in Oxfordshire for 33 years. Now retired. Also a trustee of a support group for a small Ugandan Christian N.G.O. Married to Sue. Three children and five grandchildren.
