Leisure Club

With our changing facilities now refurbished we are glad to be able to launch Kingham Hill Leisure. Local residents are able to use our swimming pool and fitness suite. We have found a workable balance between ensuring the facilities are available to our pupils and making them available to members of Kingham Hill Leisure.

Membership costs £32 per month for use of Pool and Fitness Suite or £23 for Pool only or Fitness Suite only. Discounts, concessions and family membership are available. Full rates card and open times can be previewed or downloaded below.

Hire

We are very fortunate to have a spacious site and some excellent facilities. These are available for other schools and the general public to hire at reasonable rates.

Swimming Pool – Five-lane, 25-metres plus additional shallow training pool. Diving blocks, lane ropes, water polo, canoes and large inflatable toys are available. The pool is ideal for swimming lessons, galas, children's parties and a range of other water-based activities. A large glass fronted viewing area runs the complete length of the pool from which spectators can view the activities taking place in the pool. Lifeguards are also available.

Fitness Suite – A comprehensive range of cardio vascular equipment, resistance machines and loose weights is available in an attractive purpose built area that can accommodate up to twenty people at any one time. Wide screen TV’s enhance the training atmosphere.

Dance & Drama Studio – a modern and attractive studio, with sprung floor, specialist lighting and a range of aids. The studio is ideal for dance clubs, rehearsals, aerobics, etc.

Cricket Square – a well-regarded square and outfield in a beautiful setting with lovely views. There is a large grass bank on which to sit and watch and a traditional pavilion.

Cricket nets – a set of four new nets adjacent to the cricket ground and two nets in the Sports Hall.

Astro-turf – a large floodlit all-weather facility that can be used for 11-a-side and 5-a-side football, hockey and a variety of other sports. Perfect for matches and training all year round, day or evening. A nearby changing pavilion is also available.

Sports Hall – a medium sized space suitable for badminton, basketball, indoor nets, etc. It also has a climbing wall.

Tennis courts – three hard surface courts

Netball – two hard surface courts

Pitches – we have several pitches that are used for rugby or football, great for matches and training.

Athletics field – 400-metre running track, long jump pit and other field events. A really attractive location for sports days and athletics meets.

Cross-country course – an attractive and challenging course, taking advantage of our 96-acres

Hospitality tent – 20m x 5m. This can be set-up alongside the cricket ground, pitches and running track, ideal for drinks and protection from sun (and rain!).

Catering – drinks and light refreshments can be provided

Courses

We are able to offer a range of training courses delivered in our facilities and at competitive prices.

First Aid at Work

This comprehensive three-day course covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way. This course will give participants a qualification to the highest level of First Aid, meeting the statutory requirements of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

All successful students will be issued with a new First Aid at Work Certificate, lasting for a period 3 years along with a wallet-sized plastic card detailing their qualifications.

Emergency First Aid at Work

This course can be adapted to suit a particular audience and is ideal for lower risk businesses in accordance with Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations. It is a one-day course and includes both theory and practical sessions in a relaxed atmosphere, designed to boast a candidate's confidence.

The course includes: First Aid priorities, managing incidents, basic life support, examination of a casualty, unconsciousness, control of bleeding, burns and scalds, regulations, First Aid kits, recording and reporting.

Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment and there is no final exam. Certification is valid for three years.

Defibrillator  

Cardiac Arrest is the biggest killer in the UK. Over 150,000 die as a result.

The majority could have been saved if a defibrillator was made available.

Automatic External Defibrillators (AED’s) are now becoming more common throughout a range of workplaces.

This very practical course will allow suitably qualified First Aid personnel and Lifeguards to use the AED competently and with confidence. Not only does this course deal with the use of an AED but also revisits some basic First Aid skills, including resuscitation.

Pool Lifeguard

The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is widely accepted by swimming pools both in the UK and Ireland with over 37,000 qualifications awarded per annum. The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) also has full accreditation from the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. The course consists of both theory and practical skills and is a minimum of 38 hours of training.

Pediatric

This course has been developed for those who are working with children and babies. It will be of particular interest to teachers, child minders, crèche assistants, playgroup personnel and anyone responsible for youth organisations.

It is ideal for those who are responsible for the health and welfare of children and babies, and who wish to gain knowledge of emergency procedures and attain a recognised qualification in First Aid (Appointed Person).

Parties

Our facilities lend themselves wonderfully to children’s parties.

Pool – we can offer fun free swim sessions, featuring our huge inflatable dog, floats and stepping stones in either our 25-metre or shallow training pool.

Sports Hall – we can offer a wide range of indoor games activities to suit your individual needs.

Outdoors – our grounds and pitches can be used

We are also happy to mix ‘wet’ and ‘dry’.

We have several locations where food can be served. You prepare, bring, serve and clear.

Events

We are increasingly hosting special events at the inter-school level and for the community. These will probably include cross-country races, swimming galas, Rugby Sevens, cricket matches and soccer and hockey tournaments.
