Overview

We offer an exciting package for day pupils and their parents

A five-day teaching week, school transport and competitive fees are among the key components in our plan to ensure that Kingham Hill offers the very best possible package to day students.

Five-day teaching week

Our newly updated and improved academic timetable focuses effort in the classroom between Monday and Friday. The improved rhythm of school life and the impressive results that students gain are very welcome. Students work hard, and on average achieve one full-grade more per exam subject than they otherwise might.

The school day runs from 8:15am to 5:00pm. If they wish, day pupils are able to stay for tea, supervised prep and spend time socially with friends in the evening before being collected by parents.

Transport

We are offering an increasing number of school transport routes to and from school each day. Parents can be assured that a dependable, cost-effective and friendly service will make life as straightforward as possible for the many students who live in the local area. We are committed to offering the following routes and will add others as demand dictates. Transport is offered free of charge to all who live in Moreton, Stow, Chipping Norton or closer.

Competitive fees

Fees for day pupils are very competitive and offer excellent value for money. It is hard to overstate the crucial difference that selecting just the right school for a child can make. The investment is often considerable. However, the academic and personal outcomes can open up a bigger, more prosperous future. Our aim is to achieve all this and more at a very fair price.

Fees

Parents’ social membership

School is usually all about the pupil. We want to offer parents something beyond what they would normally expect.

Beside the many opportunities to engage with teachers and tutors about a pupil’s progress, we are offering all parents social membership.

This includes:

• Use of the school gym and pool between 08:15am - 09:15am
• A weekly coffee morning
• Regular organised social trips

Parents gain membership the moment a pupil’s place is secured.

Facilities

Schools with a strong history in offering boarding provision generally have excellent facilities. One visit to Kingham Hill will demonstrate that ours are better than most. Day pupils have full access to everything we offer on our stunning site. They also benefit from newly refurbished day houses for both boys and girls. These have common rooms, dedicated areas in which to change and shower, personal lockers, a classroom and office space for the day housemaster and mistress.

Weekend activities

Weekends are for relaxation and recreation. We offer a colourful and varied optional programme each Saturday. These might include sailing, theatre, high ropes and visits to London. For a fixed fee of £35, pupils can pick and choose. Activities are profiled and bookings made on-line via the school web site.

Occasional sleepovers

Day pupils are always welcome to stay overnight. Sometimes this makes a lot of sense because of their school commitments, such as a compulsory curriculum trip, rehearsal for a school production or the late return from a school sports fixture. In these cases there is no charge. At other times, and up to three nights a week, students can stay over for a fee of £35.

Personal tutoring

Just as with students who board, day students are allocated a personal tutor who monitors academic progress and looks to encourage and challenge. Day students are also eligible, and may be invited by the Headmaster, to join his academic society for the very brightest students– The Octagon.
