Pastoral care

We offer a supportive framework of pastoral care, where each of our pupils is treated as an individual.

Our small boarding and day houses engender the feeling of extended family. Pupils feel noticed, valued and cared for.

In addition to houseparents, each pupil is assigned an academic tutor who monitors personal progress and is always available to help and advise.

The Chaplain, Andrew Savage, and the chaplaincy team are always on hand to help with sensitive issues or available to chat informally. Staff counsellors visit the boarding and day houses each week and are ready to offer specialist input.

Each year we welcome a team of pastoral assistants – they are recent graduates who join the houses and quickly become part of the family. They are unsung heroes who offer so much to pupils during their time at Kingham Hill.

As a staff team we meet every three weeks to identify and discuss the individual challenges and opportunities of each pupil and to monitor their progress. Academic tutors usually meet their tutees weekly.

We always welcome opportunities to meet with parents. Formal occasions are scheduled, allowing discussion with houseparents and teachers. However, we are also very happy for parents to call at any time to ask questions or to talk about particular issues.
