In September 2006 we started on an ambitious programme to thoroughly renovate and refurbish each of our boarding and day houses.
Greenwich House had the privilege of being first, followed closely by Bradford House. Since then Durham House has been refurbished, firstly as a day house and, much more recently, as a third girls' boarding house. Girls' day house, Latimer, has now moved to a thoroughly refurbished new home, once known as Swansea House. Severn Lodge, is a new facility for girls' upper sixth boarding, offering that bit more indepence. It is fondly known as the 'Ritz'!
The plan has been to make each of the beautiful, historic and traditionally built houses far more efficient and eco-friendly.
All domestic systems are being renewed or replaced; sympathetic double-glazed windows made to measure; external walls, roofs, gutters and drainage brought up to scratch; interiors gutted, re-plastered, hung with new doors and every room entirely re-fitted.
