Head's Welcome
It is both an honour and a privilege to serve as Head of Dean Close Kingham Hill School. I firmly believe that we are far more than simply a school; we are a close-knit family where community is at the heart of everything we do.
Set within 105 acres of beautiful Cotswold countryside, our rural setting offers space to study, relax, and be active. Small by design, we are able to provide a genuinely personalised and high-quality education, ensuring every pupil is known, valued, and supported throughout their journey with us.
Academic excellence is central to life at Kingham Hill, and we are proud of the success our pupils achieve, with many progressing to leading universities in the UK and abroad. Alongside this, our rich co-curricular programme in sport, music, drama, outdoor pursuits, and more helps pupils develop confidence, resilience, creativity, and character.
We believe education is about far more than qualifications alone. Through our ‘Equipped to Flourish’ programme and our ethos of “work hard, play hard, serve well”, we are committed to nurturing well-rounded young people who are equipped not only for academic success, but also for life beyond school.
All pupils belong to one of our eleven Houses (four Day Houses and seven Boarding Houses), each providing a warm and supportive family-style environment. Our boarding community is lively and welcoming, with weekends full of activities, trips, and events, whilst our diverse and international pupil body creates a truly global atmosphere in which pupils learn from one another and develop into thoughtful, capable young adults ready to contribute meaningfully to the wider world.
There are many things that make life on the Hill special, not least our on-site school farm, home to ponies, pigs, chickens, and ducks, but ultimately it is the people who define our community.
