A friendly, family atmosphere

Kingham Hill School is a co-educational, independent boarding school located in the heart of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds. The school offers excellent boarding facilities over its rural, 100 acre site with plenty of opportunities for pupils to live, learn and grow together. Our diverse community welcomes pupils from the UK and HM Forces families, as well as US and international children.

Boarding options

Boarding at Kingham Hill School is an experience that fosters in each of its pupils a sense of independence, resilience, and community with flexible boarding options to suit the needs of each and every child, including full-time, weekly and flexi-boarding.

Full-time boarders enjoy a home-away-from-home experience, living in a safe and supportive environment where they can focus on their studies and enjoy the raft of extracurricular activities available to them throughout the week and at weekends. Weekly boarders enjoy the same, returning home at the weekends, while flexi-boarders have the flexibility to choose when they stay in the boarding house.

The Boarding Houses

The school has seven boarding houses - four for boys (Plymouth, Sheffield, Norwich, and Bradford) and three for girls (Greenwich, Severn, and Durham) - each with its own distinct character and atmosphere wherein everyone acts as a member of a large, extended family. Each house has a team of experienced, dedicated Houseparents, Pastoral Assistants and Matrons who provide round-the-clock care and support to the pupils. The Houses are all very comfortable, with spacious bedrooms, study areas, common rooms, and recreational facilities where pupils can kick back and relax after a busy day at school. Bedrooms range from dorms of four to eight children, to single rooms for older pupils. Boarders in Upper Sixth have the opportunity to live in independent accommodation, to give academic focus and support in their final year of School study, as well as helping them to prepare for university life.

An enriching experience

Boarding at Kingham Hill School also offers all its pupils a wealth of opportunities to develop their interests and talents outside the classroom with a wide range of extracurricular activities, including sports, music, drama, and outdoor pursuits. Pupils can also take part in a variety of clubs and societies, such as debating, chess, and robotics.

The sense of community at Kingham Hill School is what makes the School - and boarding in particular - so special, with pupils from different backgrounds and cultures coming together to form friendships which continue long after they leave.

In conclusion, boarding at Kingham Hill School is an enriching experience that offers pupils a safe and supportive environment in which to thrive academically, socially, and personally. With excellent facilities, a wide range of extracurricular opportunities, and a strong sense of community, Kingham Hill School is an ideal choice for pupils seeking a wonderful boarding experience.
