Digital Literacy
Digital Literacy teaching in 1st and 3rd forms is focussed on finding, using and creating digitally in a way that is both efficient and ethical. With content from subject teachers pupils encounter a range of digital tools across the year, building up their resilience and skill set.
1st form start with a projects on Castles for History and a Country for Geography, before exploring the world of Arts for Music and finally creating a photo collage for the Art department. Pupils learn how to be effective researchers, understand image copyright, create documents, presentations, drawings and bibliographies.
In 3rd form pupils tie in their Battlefields Trip and History classroom work, to research former KHS pupils that fell in the First World War, using specialist databases to locate primary documents. Following on is Geography, with a research project on the Geography of Crime and a study of Rainforest Deforestation. In the final term pupils create a digital portfolio of their year's work with a personal website. Over the course of the year, they will search specialist databases, manipulate data, create presentations, drawings and leaflets and credit their sources.

- Applying principles of coding, including logic, problem solving and ethics.
- Basics of HTML and CSS, showing how they can be used to create basic web pages and stylesheets.
- Comparing this to website design services such as Wix.
