GCSE, A Level and BTEC/CTEC Results 2024

It was a time of celebration in the summer of 2024, as we shared in the success of our Upper Sixth and 5th Form pupils when they received their GCSE, A Level and BTEC/CTech results.

Highlights

  • In Sixth Form 40% of all results were at Grades A*-A (or equivalent), well above the national average of 27.6%, with over three quarters of results at Grades A*-B. 40% of pupils secured 2 or more A*/A grades (or equivalent).

  • There was a 100% pass rate in our vocational BTEC and CTech courses, with over half of all results at Distinction*/Distinction Level.

  • At GCSE 36% of results were at the highest Grades 9-7 with 56% at Grades 9-6.

Headmaster, Pete Last said,

‘I am extremely proud of the huge amount of effort and determination shown by all our Upper Sixth and 5th Form pupils over the course of the last two years. I would like to congratulate each and every one of them on the results they have received this summer. In addition to celebrating the success of our pupils It is also important that we thank members of teaching staff, whose hard work has enabled the year group to fulfil their potential.’

This year’s Upper Sixth cohort have done themselves proud with 88% of pupils securing places at their first choice destination including, the University of York, Durham University, University of Warwick, Kings College London, University of Exeter, University of Nottingham, University of Reading, University of Bristol, The Engineering and Design Institute London and the University of Bath. We also have some pupils going a little further afield to destinations including Eada Business School in Barcelona, The University of North Carolina in America, and one pupil has secured a scholarship to study at the University of Hawaii!

Our pupils will be studying a diverse range of courses including: Biomedical Science, Economics, Art, Psychology, Anthropology, Motorsport Engineering, Computer Science (with AI), Zoology, Mechanical Engineering, History, Politics & International Relations, Sport Business Management, Genetics, English with Philosophy, Digital Animation with Illustration, Music Technology, Graphic Design, Business and Finance, Marketing, Philosophy Theology and Photography.

Mr Last continued,

‘Throughout their time at Kingham, alongside their academic lessons all pupils follow our Equipped to Flourish (ETF) programme, which aims to equip them with qualities that will help them flourish in life beyond the Hill. The programme’s four main themes of Resilience, Responsibility, Humility and Integrity are woven into every aspect of school life. The results achieved at both GCSE and in the Sixth Form are a clear reflection of these themes, combined with the high levels of enthusiasm and dedication both pupils and staff have put into their lessons.

As our Upper Sixth leavers head off confidently onto their next ventures we would like to wish them well, whilst also reminding them that Kingham Hill is a family. They will each remain part of our life-long community of Hillians and we look forward to sharing in their future successes for many years to come.

We are now looking ahead to the new school year and we can’t wait to welcome many of our 5th Formers back to the Hill in September as they embark upon their Sixth Form journey with us.’
