Art is a vital subject as a tool for communication and visual understanding and is becoming an ever present force in the careers of the modern world. It is highly valued by employers as it shows individuality and uniqueness, and a wider, more imaginative viewpoint.

Pupils studying Art from Year 7 to Year 13 are given the chance to explore their creative abilities through a number of mediums including ceramics, painting, pencil drawing and mixed media sculpture.

Art has proven to be a popular subject at Kingham Hill with large numbers of pupils studying at GCSE and A level - Photography A level is also offered to those in Sixth Form. Personal exploration of the exam set syllabus is encouraged, with pupils given access to the art studio at break, lunch and during art prep.

To broaden and extend the curriculum, pupils have the opportunity to travel abroad each year as part of a school art trip. Every summer, the wonderful art work produced by pupils is displayed as part of an exhibition on site.

The Art department consists of two experienced teachers; Mrs Waters joined Kingham Hill in September 2017 as Head of Art and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to share with our pupils.

Mrs Tigwell has been at Kingham Hill for several years and has been integral in developing the department. She has used her BA Hons in Photo Journalism to firmly establish the A level Photography course as a key strength of the department.
