Alfred Jarvis is a name that many old boys will recognise. He was the author of the two books about Kingham Hill History; Fifty Years of Kingham Hill, and Charles Baring Young of Daylesford (1850-1928). Mr Jarvis was a pupil at school for 9 years in the early 1900's and knew Mr Young. He went on to be a student teacher, Headmaster in London and member of the KHOBA (Kingham Hill Old Boys Association) as a life-long friend of the school.
In 1967, Warden Cooper asked him to give a lecture to the school community in Top School Hall on the Founder ('Squire Young') and life on the Hill in the very early days. When Mr Jarvis arrived on the Hill, the chapel was being built and Daylesford was very much part of the estate.
