Sport

The ethos at Kingham Hill School is that it is all pupils participate in sport so they can build their personal fitness, enjoy and participate in a range of sports, and develop a lifelong desire to maintain a healthy lifestyle.The school uses the excellent sporting facilities to the full and offers a range of team and individual sports.


Sport is a vital part of the school curriculum as it promotes the health and wellbeing of pupils, but it also provides an opportunity to develop and practise personal qualities vital for a successful life; such as confidence, discipline, teamwork, leadership skills and resilience.

There is a full programme of sporting fixtures throughout the year, including the competitively fought inter-house competitions,sports dayand weekly inter-school fixtures.One of the many benefits of being in a small school is that the majority of pupils will be able to represent the school in a sporting capacity.

The weekly activities/sports programme is usually timetabled in the afternoons,in periods 9-10- 15:30 – 16:40 unless otherwise indicated.

* In addition to the Performing Arts activities in Years 7 and 8, Performing Arts Academy runs on a voluntary basis for all pupils from 17:00 until 20:30 at the latest for Juniors and 21:30 at the latest for Seniors.

Termly Sports

The major sports change each term and are hockey (Michaelmas), netball (Lent) and rounders, tennis and athletics (Trinity) for the girls and rugby (Michaelmas), football (Lent) and cricket (Trinity) for the boys.

Team Sheets

Each week our pupils take part in matches against other local schools in our major sports. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are set as our match days when our various teams travel and host our opposition team. All team sheets are posted on the Parent Portal in the document section. We also host match teas during our home fixtures for parents and visiting parents.

Annual Sports

There are lots of other sports available to try throughout the year, which can be selected as a co-curricular activity, these include golf, mountain-biking, cross-country running, clay-pigeon shooting, and fencing to name a few.

Facilities

The school is fortunate to have excellent sporting facilities which include extensive playing fields, a cricket square, astro-turf pitches, tennis courts, a climbing wall and two sports pavilions.The leisure centre includes a 25m metre pool and training pool, sauna and fitness suite.
