Equipped to Flourish

Introduction and aims

The Equipped to Flourish (ETF) programme is designed to capture the Personal Development of the pupils at Kingham Hill School. We are supporting the pupils to develop in character and enable them to flourish here on the Hill and beyond.

At the core of the ETF Compass is the school’s informal motto, ‘work hard, play hard, serve well’. Enabling and supporting pupils to be able to do this in all aspects of school life and beyond will aid their development and ensure they are able to flourish.

We have defined qualities of character in which we aim to help our pupils grow. This is not an exhaustive list, but gives a direction to a set of character skills that will assist our pupils to thrive in life beyond school.

In order to create an environment in which these characteristics are encouraged to grow, we have recognised five core themes and a related set of activities (again not exhaustive but exemplary) which would support each aim. The contribution from various areas of school life into these are referenced, along with a link to the various bodies and legislation to which we are accountable. Tying in with the current academic reporting schedule and additionally at the beginning of the academic year, there will be an opportunity for the pupils to reflect on their progress and goals in these areas, under the guidance of tutors, five times each year. A record of such reflection and other evidence of achievement will be kept by tutors.

The programme is divided into three sections; Junior (1st & 2nd forms), Intermediate (3rd to 5th Forms) and Senior (6th Form) to reflect the growing and changing methods of delivery through the school.
