After the Christmas break, works began in earnest again last week. We are now on Week 17 of 58 and the
building is really starting to take shape. With the high winds preventing us from getting the whole rear frame up
before Christmas, we have now caught up and are running to plan.
Helped by the continuing dry weather the steels went up steadily as the week went on, with works on the cricket
nets (next to the Cricket pavilion) adding to an ever increasing number of construction vehicles on the site.
By mid week the main hall roof structure was nearly complete and a member of the Synergy team took some
great shots from up top!
A mid-week meeting saw the team discuss the internal fittings for the sports equipment, such as netball and
volleyball posts, basketball hoops, scoreboards, football/hockey goals and cricket nets. Just discussing the kit
and how easy it will be to install and configure, is exciting in its own right, as it gave a flavour of all the additional
opportunities the pupils will gain from the new building. By Friday, 6 of the 7 steel deliveries had taken place,
with the final one due early next week. The front 'accommodation' building is now partially constructed, including
the area which forms the squash court, classroom and largest store room. The atrium and social area in the
middle is now going up and finally, hopefully by the middle of next week, the last section forming the changing
rooms will be lifted into place. The next big delivery will be the floor planks.
Here's to an exciting term ahead!
