First panels fitted

As the half term draws to a close, the panels have started to be fitted to Sports Hall. After two weeks of installing the brackets, the panels are now being lifted into place, a bit like a large Connect 4 set.  Whilst looking remarkably light when stacked in a pile, they are actually surprisingly heavy!

On the front of the building the block work and stone work continues, with the gap in the middle being left empty for the glass panels that will form the entrance hall to the building. As you enter the entrance hall, the timber door frames and water pipes are being installed.

From up on the cherry picker, the size of the hall and the view that will be had from the social area opposite, are apparent. The doors to the hall on the far wall will allow both sides of the hall to be accessed, even when the dividing netting is in place, and also give direct access to the two large equipment stores.

Below the progress on the squash court can be seen from what will form the viewing gallery and also the myriad of pipes, cables and vents that will be covered once the upstairs ceiling is installed.

On the side of the building facing Sheffield House, the stone work is largely complete and the cedar cladding just needs to be fitted above.  The Sports Hall panelling can be seen to the rear.

From up high, the planting continues to flourish and hopefully by the end of the summer, should be pretty well established. The panels which are designed to complement the roof colour are fitting together seamlessly.  Today they were reflecting the tones in the sky.

Wishing you a peaceful half term and all the best for Chill on the Hill.
