Halfway there!

As the Easter break begins, we have finally reached the mid-point of the Sports Centre project (week 29 of 58). To mark the occasion, we have been luckily enough to receive a third set of airborne photographs of the site (taken last week), from alumnus Melville James.

The sunny weather of the last few weeks has passed and this week rain, wind and a few flakes of snow have been the norm. However, whilst this slows the roofing down, the block work, stone work and ground work continue.

The path down the side of the building and the landscaping above, are slowly smoothing out as the building nestles into the surroundings. The electrical installation is underway, with the ceiling mounted cable trays being installed.

The external stone work has started, covering up the block work and insulation, and allowing the final look of the building to start to show through.

The internal block work is going up fast, with the final photo showing what will be the girls downstairs changing rooms and toilets.

Let us hope that the holidays bring back the good weather and allow us to keep up the pace. We have lets using the site for residential camps over the holidays and our BlueGrass players who have been visiting the site for over 20 years, will certainly notice the difference since their last visit in October - especially since they used to park on what is now the site huts!

By the time the pupils return in three weeks, they really should see a difference in the building.
