One of the luxuries of being in the countryside is the outside space – and there is plenty of it at Kingham Hill! The school has a beautiful 100 acre estate with woodlands, fields and sports facilities, as well as the ever popular school farm.
The school is home to a menagerie of alpacas, horses, sheep, goats, rabbits, cats and a dog. Not to mention snakes, a bearded dragon and a bull frog – and that’s just in the Science labs!
The farm in based in the heart of the school grounds and is a popular place before and after school as well as at lunchtimes, and the pupils get involved in all aspects of animal care – bottle feeding the lambs is particularly popular.
Farm club is available as a co-curricular option for pupils to choose and this gives them further opportunities to be taught more about animal husbandry. At A level pupils can choose to study Animal Management at BTec level.
