This will be our sixth year of hosting our Chill on the Hill reunion.  We'd love to have you with us - consider camping onsite this year, or even just joining us for dinner and a drink (on Friday or Saturday evening) to round out the weekend.  Here's the link to book.

The schedule for the weekend will be:

Friday Evening

• 17:00 - onward, arrivals for those who are camping
• 18:00 -19:00 - Dinner (dining hall)
• 19:00 - 22:00 - Bar open
• Camping on-site

Saturday 

• 09:00 - 09:30 - Bacon butties for campers (dining hall)
• 10:00 - onward, arrivals
• 10:30 - 11:30 - Chapel Service led by Hillian David Walsh (Clyde, 1970-1977), joined by Phil Ormiston (Durham, 1965-1971) on the organ. 
  • After the service Hillians are invited to view the new Stained Glass window (designed by Peter Berry, Greenwich 1972-1977) in Top School Hall. 
• 11:30 - 13:00 - Boarding Houses open.  We've asked former staff to meet you in house during that time. 
• 12:00 - 17:00 - BBQ and Bar open. Ice cream truck arrives mid-afternoon
• 18:00 - 19:00 - Dinner (dining hall) - *please pre-book!
• 19:00 - 23:00 - Bar Open (cricket pavillion)
• Camping on-site

Sunday

• 09:00 - 09:30 - Bacon butties for campers (dining hall)

Hillians came together to celebrate Founder's Day in a small service at the chapel in Daylesford. Following that we returned to School for a Committee Meeting and Lunch.

Close to 100 Hillians (former staff and former pupils) came together to enjoy a Hillian AGM meeting, Chapel Service, lunch in Top School Hall and tea at the Headmaster's house.  The event was such as success, we've decided to include this as a consistent fixture in our annual lineup of Hillian events.   

Chill on the Hill 2023, was our biggest one yet, with over 500 people joining us for the opening of the new Assault Course and Trim Trail (a project that was initiated, managed and funded by our Hillian community). To view a video clip of the day, please click here. 

Please save the date for our next Chill on the Hill 2024, 25th May.  It's a great way to reconnect with old friends in an informal setting and to show the family your old school.

Known as 'The Rev' to Hillians from the years 1980-1992, Bob Shepton served as Chaplain at Kingham Hill. Known for inspiring and challenging boys on the Hill, he built an assault course in the wooded area behind Severn and Greenwich and led many sailing trips and outdoor adventures around the world.   

The Rev is an Arctic explorer who has led several sailing and climbing expeditions to Greenland and Arctic Canada in his yacht, the Westerly 33ft sloop ‘Dodo’s Delight’. Bob has been a Royal Marines officer, a full-time youth leader in the east end of London and Kilburn, and Chaplain to two schools.

Hillian David Russell will share his experience of the Falklands war with emphasis on the air war.  The lecture will present the build up, activity and aftermath of the war.

Mr Russell was a 26 year old Navy pilot who flew in the Falklands.  He went on to be a commercial pilot and aviation regulator with the UK Civil Aviation Authority.  As a former Norwich House boy, David was at Kingham Hill from 1968-1975 and was Head Boy in his final year.

On the 8th of November the Army Band Sandhurst will be visiting Kingham. Throughout the day they will be delivering workshops to pupils and members of the CCFs Pipes and Drums Corps. They will be performing a recital for the School which will include Beating the Retreat along with some other fabulous pieces. It would be wonderful to welcome as many Parents and Hillians to the recital as possible. There is also the opportunity to have lunch with the band. If you would like to join us, please RSVP here. 

Please arrive at the School main Reception by 12:30.  The band will be performing at Parade Square in front of Top School from 12:45 - 13:30.  Lunch will be served from 13:30 - 14:30.

Our resident military historian, Gareth Williams (Head of Languages and Octagon) takes us on a journey into the past as he tells of his "other life" as a battlefield guide in Northern France and Belgium.  Peppered with artefacts which he uses in teaching the Third Form, Mr Williams will let us in on the reasons why he has a passion for the Great War whilst expanding on some of the exciting research he and some of the pupils have been doing into the fallen of Kingham Hill.  As always, he is sure to be an animated speaker as he challenges us to reconsider our thinking on a period of history we think we know well. 

Please join us for a drinks reception from 19:00 - 19:30.  The talk will begin at 19:30 and is being held in our Performing Arts Centre.
