The 1st Rugby VII had two excellent tournaments this week: Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens and Kingham Sevens.
On Monday 24th March, 10 boys travelled to London to play in the National Tournament. Upon arrival, a brief warm-up was followed by a game against Middlesbrough College, in which the team secured a convincing win. The VII then went on to play Millfield and Coleg Llandrillo. “While these were not as successful, the team played exceptionally well. It was a marvellous day out.” commented Herbie in the Lower Sixth.
Two days later, the same squad played alongside the 2nd VII as Kingham Hill hosted its annual Sevens Tournament in the glorious sunshine. Herbie reflected, “Both squads played excellently against strong opposition in the form of Chipping Norton, Cokethorpe, Cotswold, King Edward's Stratford and Warwick. Chipping Norton won overall with a very strong side, but the plucky men from Kingham played with brilliant heart and determination to push some very big rugby schools right to the wire. A great day overall, and a fantastic festival of rugby!”
