A Visit from author, Radhika Sanghani

This week, we were absolutely delighted to welcome author, Radhika Sanghani, to speak to our First and Second Form pupils. Radhika is an award-winning journalist, influential body positivity campaigner and a 2020 BBC Writers Room graduate.

Radhika began her talk by reading an excerpt from her debut children’s book The Girl Who Couldn’t Lie, which is all about friendship, family and, above all, radical honesty! This was followed by a discussion about the key themes in the novel as Radhika talked about the inspiration behind the story and whether there is ever a good time to lie. Radhika told the pupils about her personal vow to never tell a lie again and invited them to share any lies they had told, as well as prompting them to consider what happens when we tell the complete truth.

At the end of the talk there was time for a Q&A where our pupils asked Radhika about how she got into writing and what her future plans were for more stories. It was a very enjoyable session for the pupils and provided them with the opportunity to gain an in-depth insight into the creative process from a professional in the field.
