Kingham Hill recently enjoyed its first Pioneering Afternoon, an outdoor adventure experience bringing together junior pupils for a memorable day in the heart of the Cotswolds.
Held on Thursday 26th February, the afternoon saw Year 5 and 6 pupils making the most of the school’s extensive grounds, taking part in a range of hands-on activities that reflect the strong role outdoor learning plays in school life at Kingham Hill.
Throughout the day, pupils put their navigation skills to the test through orienteering challenges, learning to read maps and find their way across the countryside campus. They also developed practical skills such as shelter building in the woods, before tackling the school’s 7.5 metre climbing wall which was a clear highlight for many.
The event concluded with a campfire singalong led by Head, Mr Last, with his guitar, as pupils toasted marshmallows and warmed up with hot chocolate; a fitting end to an afternoon of adventure.
