Last Friday evening we held our annual CCF Contingent Dinner. It was a wonderful occasion providing an opportunity for all those involved in CCF at school, along with some guests, to come together and share in a delicious formal meal.
We were privileged to welcome Maj James S. Young as our guest of honour for the event. Maj Young is a Political Affairs Strategist Student at Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. In this position, Maj Young is completing the core Air Command and Staff College curriculum while also preparing for a role as a Political Affairs Strategist under the Office of International Affairs for the Secretary of the Air Force. Maj Young received his commission through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps at Norwich University, in May 2010. He completed the Force Support Officer Course in October 2010, and since then has held a variety of leadership positions at Squadron, Wing, Major Command, and Headquarters Air Force levels. Throughout his career, Maj Young has served as a Flight Commander, Squadron Operations Officer, Wing Executive Officer, and Major Command Headquarters Squadron Commander. Maj Young has completed multiple combat deployments throughout the Middle East and also served as an Air Force Mortuary Officer. Additionally, he was selected to pioneer one of the first Wing-level Air Staff Director of Manpower, Personnel, and Services positions under the new Wing-level Air Staff construct in the Air Forces Central Area of Operations.
It was very interesting to hear him speak to our Cadets about his experiences and we are very grateful to Maj Young for joining us.
During the dinner some promotions were presented and we are delighted to confirm the following positions:
- Cadet Head of Corps is now CSM Megson
- Cadet Head of Army is now CSgt Thompson
- Cadet Head of RAF is now FSgt Vickers
We look forward to seeing their leadership skills in action over the rest of this academic year.
