Centrepoint - This term's charity

An important aspect of the school's unofficial motto is to 'Serve Well'. As a school we are always looking for opportunities to develop the pupils' appreciation for what they have and to look for ways to serve those around them, whether within the school, local community or even further afield. Over the years we have tried to support different charities with events to raise both funds and awareness to further their work. The school has a charity committee which is made up of pupils and staff who make decisions about who the school will seek to help and what we will do to achieve this. This term, Kingham Hill will be seeking to do this for Centrepoint, which is a charity for homeless young people and this morning's chapel service was very much the launch of this term's work.

Nanci Austin gave a detailed explanation of the charity's work and the pupils watched a short clip about how Centrepoint have significantly impacted one young girl's life by giving her a bed and an education. Please follow this link to learn more about the charity for yourselves.

While we will take further opportunities to help the KHS pupils appreciate the hardship of homelessness, there are two key events taking place this term to try and raise funds.

In two week's time, on the 1st February, there is an own clothes day with a Fashion and Talent Show that evening for pupils. Later in the term (29th March) pupils will have the chance to be involved in a sponsored sleep out at school. More details of these events will follow in due course.
