Chaplaincy Events Week took place in the week before half-term, during which we were delighted to welcome a range of visiting speakers to the Hill.
Our speakers included:
- Dr Sharon Dirckx, a neuroscientist and author, who talked about the place religion has in a world full of suffering. She has spent 10 years thinking and researching about suffering - both personal suffering and collective suffering such as the impacts of natural disasters.
- Simon Guillebaud, a Christian missionary, founder of Great Lakes Outreach, and author, who spent more than 20 years living in war torn Burundi. Simon spoke powerfully about his personal experiences and the miracles he has seen in the lives of those around him.
- Reuben Mann, a pastor, who considered the question of whether it is all true and answered questions from our pupils about faith.
As well as the speaker events there was also the chance to think about art and faith, and to hear from some of the school's staff about what following Jesus has been like for them. The Junior and Senior Christian Unions also hosted activity sessions after school, complete with games, food and slushies!
Overall it was a wonderful opportunity for both pupils and staff to hear some new voices, ask questions, and gain insight into the different perspectives that people have on faith.
