Industry in Action

Sixth Form DT and Engineering pupils had the opportunity to see industry in action this month when they visited the MINI Plant in Oxford. A tour of the Mini assembly line enabled the group to see what they have been learning about in lessons in action -  looking at robotics in manufacturing, flexible manufacturing cells, automated guided vehicles and just in time manufacturing methods.

They also learnt about how the factory floor operates to improve performance and increase profits, as well as understanding how the welfare of a workforce is taken care of. It was an incredible experience and one that will help them understand some of the theory in their chosen subjects.
