Over the Michaelmas half-term, our rugby and hockey teams enjoyed an incredible tour to Barcelona, where they combined top-level sport with making memories in the vibrant Spanish city. Both squads competed against leading Spanish clubs, putting their skills to the test and showing great teamwork on the field.
“The tour has been and gone but I know the memories will last for many years to come for the pupils. We had a wonderful time.” commented Houseparent and English Teacher, Mr Elliott. “Despite the overall results in the fixtures, the matches were a great success and our perseverance and resilience cups have been filled to the brim. Playing under the lights, with a warm crowd in the stands, alongside your mates, and in 23 degree heat in Barcelona - where else would you rather be?”
Mr Elliott continued, “An important part of touring is what happens off the pitch too. The pupils bonded excellently during the bus trips and meal times in the hotel. One of my highlights from the tour was hearing the boys and girls, in full voice, singing 90s classics regardless of the fixture results or their own fatigue.”
Off the pitch, pupils enjoyed training on the beach, stand-up paddleboarding sessions, team bonding at PortAventura Park, a walking tour of Barcelona, and even a guided tour of the iconic Camp Nou stadium!
The tour provided an excellent opportunity for players to develop their game, strengthen team spirit, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
