Tuesday 2nd September marked the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. In collaboration with the Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA), Kingham Hill is proud to honour the men named on the Chapel’s war memorial — many of whom are researched each year by our 3rd Form pupils as part of their Great War history project — through The Boarding School Book of Remembrance, a new online archive dedicated to pupils and staff from BSA member schools who gave their lives in conflict.
The Book of Remembrance brings together rolls of honour from boarding schools across the country, highlighting the vital role that boarders have played not only in the two World Wars, in battles going back as far as Trafalgar as well as more recent conflicts.
Kingham Hill’s own Mr Williams is among eight recognised experts serving as Military Advisors for the project. His ongoing research for his forthcoming publication, Kingham Hill in the Great War, has contributed to the detailed entries for each of our fallen servicemen listed in the archive.
We invite our community to explore the Book of Remembrance and discover the names, photographs, and stories of the Kingham Hill men whose courage, loyalty, and sense of duty helped shape our school, and whose legacy continues to inspire us today.
