Kingham Hill transforms for World Book Day

Thursday 7th March marked the 22nd World Book Day, a day organised to encourage children to read and provide them with the opportunity to access a variety of literature. Kingham Hill pupils and staff celebrated the day by dressing up as authors and characters from some of their favourite books.

Ms Saxby, the school librarian, put together a number of activities for World Book Day, including a prize for best costume, a book shelfie competition and a Drop Everything and Read half hour.

Drop Everything and Read, a reading awareness event created by American author Beverly Cleary, is a time when people of all ages are encouraged to stop and take the time to enjoy the act of reading.

The day was a great success and we were pleased to see so many pupils and staff taking part to celebrate reading and literature.
