Last Friday, the Library was transformed into a wizarding wonderland, allowing pupils to immerse themselves in the magic of the beloved Harry Potter series.
Once sorted into their Hogwarts Houses, pupils hunted for Dobby’s stinky socks, attended a lesson with Professor Trelawney, enjoyed a reading from Severus Snape, and even came face-to-face with the wanted criminal Sirius Black.
Pupils also had the chance to test their wizarding knowledge and earn gringott gold (chocolate) coins, as well as invent their own magical creatures that will be entered into the Book of Monsters.
Extra Hogwarts House points go to the Craft Club for making over the Library alongside Mrs Irwin, and a special thank you to Hugo for generously providing the Chocolate Frogs!
"We celebrate Harry Potter Day to explore the imaginative worlds, characters, and themes that help us better understand our own lives and experiences." commented Head of English, Mr Lee. "The Harry Potter series is a true phenomenon, inspiring both children and adults to imagine a world that — despite, or perhaps because of, its magic — reflects real human challenges and emotions. Through Harry’s journey, we encounter remarkable characters whose trustworthiness must be determined, formidable trials that test courage and resilience, and powerful lessons about friendship, loyalty, and choice. It is a strory that tells the reader about their own life. While not the only story to do so, Harry Potter holds a unique and lasting appeal for young readers, making it especially worthy of celebration."
