Pupils learn from alumnus during stained glass workshop

This week, Year 8 pupils learned about the art of stained glass design when alumnus, Peter Berry (Greenwich, 72-79) visited the Art department to host a workshop.

The pupils were taught about how to cut the glass and arrange it to create distinctive and unique designs. Pupils used the techniques they learned to create their own coaster sized stained glass.

The workshop from Peter is linked to the Top School Hall restoration project he is involved with. Over the summer Peter started work on restoring three stained glass windows in the Hall. The windows were once a showpiece of the hall and the restoration project will reclaim the history of the room.

The Art department and pupils have been working hard to create a window design that reflects the beauty of our setting and the ethos of the School. Working from the concept drawing, Peter then created a pattern for cutting the lead and glass pieces.
