In the lead-up to Christmas, Kingham Hill pupils demonstrated generosity and a strong sense of service by supporting a range of local and international community initiatives.
The Durham girls visited the Samaritan’s Purse distribution centre in Coventry, where they volunteered their time to help pack Christmas shoeboxes destined for children across the world who might otherwise not receive a gift at Christmas. Throwing themselves into every task, the group packed well over 1,000 boxes during their visit. All agreed it was a rewarding and worthwhile way to spend a Saturday morning, knowing their efforts would make a meaningful difference.
Closer to home, a group of pupils volunteered at the Ace Centre in Chipping Norton, helping to clear leaves, sweep outdoor areas, tidy play spaces and prepare classrooms for festive activities. Despite wet and rainy conditions, the pupils worked enthusiastically and cooperatively.
Pupils also played an important role in supporting the local community at Chipping Norton Community Church’s annual Christmas Dinner, held at the Town Hall. Around 95 guests were welcomed for a traditional Christmas meal of turkey with all the trimmings, prepared by our catering team, followed by dessert. Our pupils volunteered to serve the meal and were praised for their cheerful and polite manner, proving to be a real credit to the school.
In addition, Great Rollright School shared their thanks for the games created by Kingham Hill pupils for their Christmas Fair, commenting that “the children absolutely loved them”.
These acts of service reflect Kingham Hill’s commitment to encouraging pupils to look beyond themselves, engage with their communities and live out the values of kindness, compassion and responsibility. We are proud of the way our pupils gave their time and energy this festive season.
