Pupils Take Geography Beyond the Class

It’s been a busy few weeks for our Geography pupils as they’ve taken their learning out into the field.

At the start of the week, the 3rd Form ventured into Chipping Norton to collect primary data from different neighbourhoods as part of their geographical enquiry into quality of life. Pupils worked collaboratively to investigate how various factors contribute to residents’ wellbeing and community satisfaction, gaining valuable hands-on experience in data collection and analysis.

Meanwhile, the 5th Form have been applying their GCSE Geography theory to real-world contexts with a coastal fieldwork investigation in Mudeford last month. Blessed with clear skies and calm seas, pupils worked in groups to measure beach profiles and study coastal processes as they explored the question: “How effective is the coastal management at Milford on Sea?”

Both trips offered an excellent opportunity for pupils to deepen their understanding of geographical concepts and develop practical fieldwork skills — an essential part of studying Geography at every level.
