Senior sports dinners

Thursday evening gave the senior Rugby and Hockey teams a chance to celebrate their respective seasons. These are events which allow the pupils to embrace the social side of their sports as well as reflect on the lessons to learn from the challenges they faced. They are also, crucially, an opportunity for both squads to spend time together for the last time, mark the departure of great servants who are leaving at the end of the year and to take note of the observations their coaches make.

The hockey team had already presented their awards last term so their were no great announcements to be made there but it was a wonderful evening with a special group of players who have enjoyed the best season Kingham Hill Hockey have seen for a long time. A huge thanks must go to Mrs Robinson and her staff at The Old Butchers in Stow-on-the-Wold for hosting the hockey team. The reports are that the food was as superb as ever.

The rugby team went to Chipping Norton Rugby Club and were, again, very well looked after with some excellent food. As a school we have been very lucky to have been in the hands of coach Lynn Evans for another season. Having been 25 years as head coach of Oxford University, when the rugby there was at its peak, the boys really appreciate the expertise they have with him.

Well done to all the boys who received awards.

As the school continues to grow, additional teams and fixtures are being added. 2nd XI and hockey and 3rd XV rugby have begun to enjoy matches and compete well, showing the growing depth of talent the school is producing. Well done to all the hard work of the coaches and players alike for this!
