On Friday 10th October, Kingham Hill ended the week on a high note with the first Performer’s Platform of the term, an inspiring evening of live music that coincided with Culture Day.
Performing in front of an audience can be a daunting experience, but our pupils — some of whom are at the very start of their musical journeys — rose to the occasion to deliver captivating and confident showcases. Throughout the evening, the audience was treated to a diverse line-up featuring pianists, flautists, a saxophonist, clarinettist, trombonist, guitarist, and singer.
Performer’s Platforms are an important part of musical life at Kingham Hill, giving pupils of all abilities the opportunity to gain valuable performance experience in a supportive environment.
The Music Department offers a rich programme of activities with ensembles including the Choral Society, Junior Choir, Concert Band, Flute Choir, and Brass Band. Pupils also have access to dedicated practice and teaching rooms during the school day, encouraging independent learning and creativity.
In Key Stage 3, every pupil is encouraged to learn a new instrument through the school’s innovative music scheme, which provides free small group lessons each week. This hands-on approach allows pupils to experience the joys and challenges of learning an instrument, with their efforts celebrated in the annual Junior Concert during the Trinity Term.
