Year 10 art pupils inspired in Oxford

On Wednesday, Year 10 art pupils spent the day exploring Oxford city centre and the numerous collections its museums and art galleries it have on display.

To begin their GCSE Art syllabus, pupils used the trip to help gather ideas for their introductory project based on the topic of structures.

The day started with a visit to the Ashmolean Museum in the morning, which featured a wealth of collections, including artefacts from Egypt, Japan and England.

Following lunch, pupils visited the Oxford University Museum of Natural History and the Pitt Rivers Museum where they explored the collections ranging from human settlement to Tibetan artwork.

Pupils meticulously recorded their observations through photography and drawing in their sketchbooks. Once back at school, these will be used in lessons to help them develop their Michaelmas coursework.
