School Farm

One of the many benefits of life in the countryside is the space to explore, learn, and grow — and at Kingham Hill, there is plenty of it. Set within a beautiful 105-acre estate of woodlands, fields, and sports facilities, the school is also home to one of its most popular features: the school farm.

Located in the heart of the campus, the farm is a much-loved part of daily life at Kingham Hill. Pupils can often be found there before school, during lunchtimes, and after lessons, caring for a wide range of animals including horses, sheep, goats, pigs, guinea pigs, rabbits, ducks, and chickens.

Animal care is very much hands-on, with pupils actively involved in feeding, cleaning, and looking after the animals throughout the year. Bottle-feeding lambs during the spring term is always a particular highlight.

The school’s passion for animals extends beyond the farm itself. In the Science laboratories, pupils can also learn from our gecko, tortoise and stick insects.

Farm Club is offered as part of the co-curricular programme, giving pupils the chance to develop their knowledge of animal care and husbandry in greater depth. For those wishing to take their interest further, GCSE and Sixth Form pupils can also choose to study the Animal Management BTEC.
